Realistic Timeline

For a Saturday wedding in peak season (May-October): venue and planner at 12-15 months out; photographer and videographer at 10-12 months; catering tasting at 6-8 months; floristry, music, and transport at 6-9 months. Off-season weddings (November-April) can typically compress this to 8-10 months because supplier availability is much wider. Last-minute weddings (3-6 months) are realistic in winter; rare in summer for top venues.

Choosing North vs. South

The biggest planning decision is which coast. The south coast is the safe choice for international guests — sunny, predictable, English-speaking infrastructure everywhere, all major resorts within 30 minutes of the airport. The north coast offers more authentic Canarian character (banana plantations, colonial architecture, dramatic Atlantic cliffs) but with higher weather variability and longer transfers (60-90 minutes from the airport). For couples whose top priority is reliable sun, choose south; for couples who want a more distinctive aesthetic and are willing to plan around weather, the north is worth the extra logistics.

Tenerife has a professional wedding planner ecosystem with native English, German, Spanish, and increasingly Russian and Italian speakers. Planning fees range from €6,000 to €18,000 — somewhat lower than Mallorca or Marbella for comparable scope. Most planners specialize in either the south-coast hotel circuit or the north-coast finca network; choose one whose specialty matches your venue style.

Multi-Day Format and Multi-Island Options

Most Tenerife weddings are 3-day events: arrival/welcome dinner, ceremony day, and a recovery day or excursion. A growing trend is the multi-island wedding — main ceremony in Tenerife, then a day-trip or overnight on La Gomera (a 50-minute ferry away) for guests who want to extend the experience. La Gomera is significantly less developed and offers atmospheric forest hikes and small boutique hotels.
