Salamanca weddings tend toward 70-130 guests, with the venues dictating much of the scale. The compact city center makes guest management unusually easy compared to spread-out destinations like Mallorca or Marbella.

RSVP Timeline

Save-the-dates 8-10 months ahead. Formal invitations 3-4 months out. A digital wedding website is recommended but Salamanca weddings often skew more domestic Spanish than international, so the site can be primarily Spanish with English support rather than fully bilingual. Capture RSVPs, dietary preferences, song requests, and accommodation choices in one structured form.

Accommodation Strategy

The Salamanca historic center is small and walkable, which is a significant advantage for guest accommodation. Block rooms at 2-3 hotels within the historic walls: a luxury option (Hotel NH Palacio de Castellanos, Don Gregorio) for the wedding party and key family; a mid-range city hotel (NH Salamanca Puerta de la Catedral, Catalonia Plaza Mayor) for the bulk of guests; a more affordable option (Hotel Las Torres, Hostal Astorga) for budget-conscious guests. Most accommodation is within 5-10 minutes walk of the main wedding venues, which eliminates much of the shuttle logistics required in coastal destinations. Lock blocks 6-9 months ahead.

Transport Coordination

Most international guests arrive via Madrid by AVE train, arriving directly in central Salamanca. From the train station, the historic center is a 10-minute walk or short taxi ride. For guests arriving via car, parking in the historic center is restricted; communicate parking options at the hotel or at the underground Plaza Mayor garage. Wedding-day shuttles are typically not needed because venues are walkable.

Activities for Multi-Day Stays

Salamanca rewards multi-day visits more than coastal destinations because the city has substantial cultural depth. Optional guest activities include: guided tours of the University and historic center (1-2 hours, English available); day-trip to nearby Avila or Segovia (1 hour by car, both UNESCO sites); wine-tasting in the Arribes del Duero region (1 hour); and the Sierra de Francia mountains for active guests. Including 1-2 optional group activities improves guest experience meaningfully without overcommitting.
