Mallorca rewards methodical planning. The island's wedding industry is mature, the supplier pool is deep, and the most desirable venues book 12-18 months ahead for peak season. The good news is that once you have the venue, planner, and photographer locked, the remaining decisions tend to fall into place quickly.

Realistic Timeline

For a peak-season Saturday (June-September): venue and planner at 14-18 months out; photographer and videographer at 12-15 months; catering tasting at 6-9 months; floral design and music at 8-10 months; transport and accommodation blocks at 10-12 months. Shoulder-season weddings (May, late September, October) can compress this by 2-3 months.

Choosing the Right Region

The island is bigger than it looks on a map — 75km from Palma to Pollença takes nearly two hours in summer traffic. Pick a region first, then a venue within it: Palma and Bay of Palma for urban-leaning weddings with easy logistics; Tramuntana coast (Deià, Sóller, Valldemossa) for dramatic mountain-meets-sea weddings; the interior (Manacor, Felanitx, Sineu) for traditional finca celebrations; the south coast (Llucmajor, Ses Salines) for beachy, unfussy weddings. Concentrating accommodation, ceremony, and reception within 30 minutes of each other dramatically improves the guest experience.

Local vs. International Suppliers

Mallorca's local supplier ecosystem is excellent across catering, floristry, and photography. Where importing makes sense: bands and DJs with a specific sound you can't replicate locally; specialist videographers; and cake or stationery designers if you're particular. For everything else, hiring locally saves logistics, supports the island economy, and produces better results — local florists know which suppliers can deliver fresh flowers despite a heatwave, which is the kind of knowledge that doesn't transfer.

The Multi-Day Format

Most Mallorca weddings span 2-4 days: arrival/welcome dinner Thursday or Friday, ceremony and reception Saturday, recovery brunch and beach day Sunday. Build the schedule for guests, not just for the wedding day — the weekend as a whole is what they'll remember.
